🌼 “Lily’s Light” 🌼

Lily was a quiet 10-year-old girl who didn’t think very much of herself.

At school, she always sat in the back of the class. She didn’t raise her hand, even when she knew the answer.
She thought her hair was too frizzy, her voice too soft, and her clothes not cool enough.
“I’m just not good enough,” she would tell herself.

One day, Lily came home feeling especially sad. A few kids had laughed when she dropped her lunch tray in the cafeteria. Her cheeks turned red just remembering it.

She ran to her room, curled up in bed, and cried.

Just then, her grandma walked in. She gently sat beside Lily and hugged her tight.

“What’s wrong, sweetheart?” Grandma asked.

“I’m not pretty. I’m not smart. I mess everything up,” Lily sniffled. “Nobody really likes me.”

Grandma looked at her with kind eyes and said, “That’s not true. You are loved more than you can imagine. Do you want to know what helped me when I felt like that?”

Lily nodded.

Grandma reached into her bag and pulled out a small, worn Bible. “God’s Word helped me remember who I am.”

She opened it and read aloud:

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14

Lily blinked. “Fearfully and wonderfully made? That’s… me?”

“Yes,” Grandma smiled. “God made you special on purpose. He doesn’t make mistakes.”

Every night after that, Lily and Grandma read the Bible together. They read how Jesus welcomed children, how He loved the lonely, how He died and rose again to save everyone, including her.

They prayed together too. Lily began to whisper her worries to God:
“Jesus, I feel invisible at school. Help me remember You see me.”
“Jesus, help me be kind to myself, the way You are kind to me.”

And something began to change.

Lily started to smile more. She walked a little taller. When someone dropped their books in the hallway, she helped. When she saw a classmate sitting alone, she said, “Do you want to play?”

She wasn’t perfect, but she knew she was loved.

One morning, Lily looked in the mirror and said, “Jesus, thank You for making me just the way I am.”

And she meant it.
